Vinyl records vs CDs
Advantages
of CDs
- It’s compact
- Cd’s easier to store therefore less space will be needed.
- More tracks available on cd
- Easy to skip from track to track
- Copies can be made
- Cheaper to purchase
- With CDs you can make your own music and burn it on to it.
Disadvantages
of CDs
- When burning the copy on to a CD it doesn’t always work because the computer could crash or the CD loses all the data.
- You can’t use it on any other device than a computer or a CD player.
- When you play the CD it can easily get scratched and the quality of the sound is taken away when transferred onto CD.
- When music is copied onto the CD, it is not the original version, it is a remake.
- A CD recording does not pick up all the sounds that a Vinyl recording would.
Advantages
of Vinyl records
- Vinyl uses less bandwidth than digital sound.
- Vinyl records are more accurate as they pick up more sounds that a CD wouldn’t.
- When listening to Vinyl it will be clear that you are listening to the original copy rather than something that has been edited etc
Disadvantages
of Vinyl records
- You can hear white noise.
- If you make a recording on Vinyl you can’t get rid of white noise and the sound can be affected.
- Once the recording is done on Vinyl, it can’t be reversed or edited out.
- Tape is becoming expensive as not many people use it therefore there is not as much manufactured.
