Freelance is when you are self-employed and hired to work on particular task (for example a journalist)

Freelance workers can pick and choose work and when they do it.
Shift work
Shift work is work that takes place outside the traditional 9-5pm. It can involve evening or night shifts, early morning shifts and rotating shifts.
Shift workers can earn more by working unsociable hours.
